In watching the first round of the US Open at Olympic Club and hearing Tiger Woods talk about his performance, he mentioned sticking with his game plan as part of the reason for his success. He had a plan and stuck with it. It was fairways and greens. That meant that he hit irons off many tees (he used the driver only 4 times out of 14 opportunities!), but hit more fairways than the others in his group. His plan gave him the chances to make the pars needed for success in the US Open. That sounds like a man that came up with, stuck with and executed a great game plan… that got results!
